HIS JOURNEY TO HELL
I once heard someone say that "When men strike women ,its an abuse but when women strike ,its a relationship issue". I was astonished because i have interacted with my fellow TUM students and i have met men who are being abused but they can't speak out because they are ashamed or afraid to be bashed that they take physical abuse from women.
On my everyday school routine, i met Dave a short, brown skin, plump guy who always had his glasses and earphones on , severally on the g-square pavements. Dave looked like a nerd moreso like an empty soul waiting to break down , so one day i just decided to say hi and he just hugs me and starts crying. Am sympathetic to what might be eating him up but he doesn't wanna share , so we just exchange contacts and i leave. 3 days after i receive a call from him crying and in the background i hear a woman insulting him , so i just invite him over for a coffee. Dave breaks down about how his journey to hell began three years ago with his girlfriend Cassy , she was all loving , kindhearted but all that changed when they moved in together. Cassy would come home drunk ,insult him and even go the extent of hitting him at the slightest arguments they had, and in the morning she would wake up all sweet and apologetic and he would just forgive until it became a routine. What worse was he couldn't speak out because he felt ashamed and afraid that his friends would bash him until he became depressed, he loved the girl too much to leave her and his ego was at stake. This resulted to him having suicidal thoughts, i felt so emotional and angry at the same of how the society visualise abuse to men as weak stories, i had to react and create awareness and importantly enroll Dave for counselling and Cassy because even the abusers have major psychological problems.
Violence knows no gender , anyone can be violent, anyone can be abused . Choose to speak out!!
